Camrose Vintage Working Day 2024, Saturday August 24th

cvwd-poster-2024.jpg

Showtime again for the 37th Camrose Vintage Working Day 2024

The Chairman, Andrew James, and all the Committee cannot wait to host the Vintage Day again this year.

Please spread the word to make it as memorable as last year. 👍😊🚜

We will be posting more 'Show Day' updates soon online and on social media...😀🥳

The Vintage Day Show is a great family day out.

The main show ring will have a hive of activities throughout the day – including the popular Vintage Parade – consisting of old classes of vintage vehicles comprising of, cars motorbikes, lorries, ex-army and agricultural machinery only to mention a few driving round the ring and having a chat about their vehicle for all to hear in the field.

Pembrokeshire Mudslingers will be giving another great display (wonder what they will do this year to surprise us) – always a great crowd pleaser.

Also in the main ring is the children’s tug-o-war is always a good focal point of the day - fun watching the children pull against either a steam engine or old tractor.

This year, in field 2 we will have silage/grass demonstrations and threshing demonstration.   There will be a demonstration to see and remember what and how the thresher worked many years ago.  This will rekindle old memories and educate the newer generation

In field 3 there will be land dressing and preparation for seeding demonstrations.

We introduced the extremely popular dog show back to the Day last year and this will be here again.

Sheep shearing demonstration and the farrier will be at the show showing how it is done.

Again, for 2024 visiting/ supporting the show is “Educating Pembrokeshire children” (Food story) to learn where their food comes from, where parents can sit with their children in a safe zone.  There will be activities and interesting things going on throughout the day.

There will be lots of exciting stalls selling amazing local products.

The famous Camrose Vintage Day food tent will produce and serve delicious refreshments throughout the day.

Keyston Young Farmers Club will be hosting the beer tent - so sit down and catch up with people you haven’t seen for 12 months

So, you are all reading this and wondering (maybe) why has this Show lasted for 36 years and counting.  Well, this Show all started with a small group of people wanting to raise money for charity and to demonstrate to the public how the farming community had to make crops for the winter months to feed all the animals. This grew and grew to what the old and new committee have made it today.

All of the money made on the day gets shared out to local charities, to date the Committee have raised and donated in excess of £220,000.

Over the years, we have had lots of generous sponsorship to help with ongoing costs to hold the show.  This year again many companies have generously helped the Show to continue, with the main sponsor again being

Prichard Holdings Ltd.

Importantly the Show cannot happen without the many volunteers that help and support in organising, setting up, working on the actual day and helping clearing up.   If you are interested in helping on the day and the next day to clear up, please come to our volunteering registration evening in Camrose Community centre, Saturday 29th June, from 4pm – 6pm or alternatively contact me directly (07974 947764).

Learnings from 2023/Safety notice

Following the shows we have held feedback sessions taking into account where we can learn lessons on how to improve the show.  One of the main comments was regarding the pay gates and so for 2024 we are having two pay lanes at each pay gate entry point, one for cash and card and one for card payments only, which we hope will alleviate the entry queues.

I mentioned earlier in my yearly report the show has gone from strength to strength. However due to the increased footfall at the show we cannot ignore the safety of the public on the day, and after serious consideration, we have made the decision to introduce new parking restrictions including no parking in the main show fields.   Details of new parking locations and a site map leading into the big day.

We will also be introducing more TRAFFIC MARSHALS around the show the field and when parking in the car parks coming off the main roads plus more signage to help.

Following health and safety regulations we will be monitoring that no children are allowed on any moving machinery in the Show.

So, keep your eyes peeled on the Camrose Vintage Working Day updates online and on social media, where I will be doing another live feed to let you all know what’s coming up.

Please let’s make this Show successful - please come along for a great day to keep the wheels turning and help charities and others in the future, this is what it’s all about.
