Clynfyw Care Farm's Annual Easter Egg Hunt with an 'eggstra' African twist!

On Friday 18th April, Clynfyw Care Farm, Abercych, holds their tenth annual Easter Egg Hunt in aid of the British Hen Welfare Trust.

Running since 1998, Clynfyw is a north Pembrokeshire Care Farm which supports adults with learning disabilities on a working organic farm. We use loads of different projects from charcoal making and apple juicing to crafting, growing and catering skills to learn, engage and have fun.

'We are also the British Hen Welfare Trust's west Wales collection point,' said Clynfyw's manager Jim Bowen. 'This means, ten times a year, we collect around 250hens from battery farms in England and help rehouse them in happy homes with good people around here. It is a great scheme to be involved with and this Easter Egg Hunt helps raise funds for that important charity.'

Another Clynfyw project, the Wheelie Good Idea, sends unwanted wheelchairs and mobility aids to Kenya and South Africa. 'Our last container went to Kenya,' said Jim, 'and the leader of that project, Lox Busia, is coming along on the 18th to tell people about his project and how what we do contributes to help. Its a small thing, but everything makes a difference.'

Running from 11.30-2.00, there will be cakes and tea, a farm tour and arts and crafts exhibition and the Teifi Ukulele Group will be playing too.
