Four-figure funding windfalls for two local organisations

Two local organisations are to receive four-figure windfalls as part of a Welsh Government Community Facilities Programme.

St. Clears RFC is to receive £25,077, while The Megan's Starr Foundation in Milford Haven, is to receive £20,000

The announcement was made today (Monday, September 2), by the Cabinet secretary for Culture and Social Justice, Jane Hutt.

St Clears RFC will use the funding to improve its current facilities, including new pitch side fencing while Megan's Starr is to create what has been described as 'a warm, welcoming coffee house in Pembrokeshire'. It will also offer essential mental health support to the community.

The funding forms part of a capital grant scheme which helps voluntary sector organisations make improvements to community facilities such as sports clubs and community halls which are for the benefit of the people they serve.

"The Community Facilities Programme is important in helping organisations to improve facilities so local people can benefit from them in their day to day lives," commented Jane Hutt.

"Each recipient of support from the programme provides a crucial service to the people they serve and it is great that the Welsh Government is able to help them do even more.”

Two other projects which are to receive funding under the same scheme are the Goleudy Housing and Support in Swansea, and Capel Seion Congregational Church in Llanelli  which will both be awarded £300,000.
