Why are we walking:
Hopewalks happen every October to raise awareness of Papyrus, a young person’s charity working to prevent young suicide. This walk will be a joint event to raise awareness of what we do at the DPJ Foundation as well as Papyrus. The walk isn’t to raise funds but if you would like to get some sponsorship for your walk to raise money for Papyrus or DPJ you are welcome to do so. Our main aim is to come together, have a chat and enjoy a few fun activities for children of all ages.
Route and length of the walk:
The walk is approximately 4 miles round trip over flat, tarmacked pathways so is suitable for all, including those with pushchairs and wheelchairs/mobility scooters. Dogs are also welcome. There is very little walking on the road though we will need to watch out for cyclists. There may be an option to walk back part of the way along the beach at low tide.
We will pass toilets at Wiseman’s Bridge Beach and in Saundersfoot Harbour. In Saundersfoot there are plenty of options for purchasing a hot drink.
For those who would like a shorter walk, you can park at the free beach front parking in Wiseman’s Bridge and join us at the start of the coastal path walk in to Saundersfoot at approximately 11.40am This will be approximately 2 miles round trip. What3words location: Manager.tests.everybody
What to bring:
Hopefully we will have a lovely crisp, sunny, Autumn day but just in case, wrap up warm and bring a water proof coat. Wear sensible footwear which is also suitable for a stroll on the beach if you want to do that. We will stop in Saundersfoot for a hot drink, there are a number of coffee shops, or bring a flask and some snacks. There will be dog treats available for your four legged friends.
Contact Details: your walk leader will be Kay Helyar who can be contacted on 07984 169 507 and by email kay@thedpjfoundation.co.uk.
