Milford Haven duo raise over £3,000 for Sandy Bear bereavement charity

Milford Haven's Nationwide staff have soared to victory after raising over £3,000 for local children's bereavement charity, Sandy Bear.

Anna Strudwick and Holly Goodridge, who both work as customer representatives at the Milford Haven branch in Charles Street, braved their nerves to complete a 10,000-foot skydive through the skies of Swansea, resulting in £1,000.  But the duo increased this to a mighty £3,272 after running a raffle featuring prizes including passes to Folly Farm, food and drink vouchers, and a free night’s stay in an Airbnb at a local beauty spot. Their initial target was just £800.

"Jumping out of a plane is a bit scary to say the least, but it’s for such an important cause, and I’m just so glad that everyone else at the Milford Haven branch has supported our efforts," said Anna.

"This whole venture has proved that branches are for more than just money matters – we’re really part of the community here, and it’s heartening to know that the money we’ve raised is going to help some of the most vulnerable young people in society."

The duo's success has been welcomed by Sandy Bear's CEO, Lee Barnett.

"We work with children, young people and families who are facing a bereavement or who have been bereaved, and we receive minimal statutory support," he said.  "So every penny raised means we have a positive impact on the lives of those we work with through the most difficult of circumstances wherever they reside throughout Wales."
