The Anchorage Day Care Centre Pembroke Dock

The Anchorage Day Care Centre Pembroke Dock
--
An impassioned plea has been made to save the Anchorage day centre in Pembroke Dock from closure.
In its attempt to balance its books, Pembrokeshire County council is currently changing its care provision for older adults and those with learning disabilities, prompting fears that the Anchorage day care centre is to close.
Now Pembrokeshire County Council has received two petitions calling for the council to reverse a decision to close day centres in Pembroke Dock, Crymych and Narberth.
Speaking at County Hall, Haverfordwest earlier this week Anchorage petition creator Peter Welsh said there had been no real consultation on the proposals and launched an impassioned plea for the centre to remain open, stating it was an ‘injustice that would target the vulnerable.’
But Cabinet Member for Social Care & Safeguarding, Cllr Tessa Hodgson said the council was facing immense financial pressures.
Her comments were endorsed by Chief Executive Will Bramble.
A further report on the Anchorage Centre is expected to come before the September meeting of the county council’s Cabinet, ahead of any final decision being made.
